Everything I Learnt From Reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Powerful Lessons in Personal Change by Stephen R. Covey.
If you want to change the situation, we first have to change ourselves, and to change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.
You’re the creator.
Reactive people focus in the Circle of Concern — things they have no control.
You look out through it, you see the world the way they see the world, you understand their paradigm.
The essence of synergy is to value differences, to respect them, to build on strengths, to compensate for weaknesses.

PARADIGMS
It is the way you “see”, interpret or understand the world. You see the world not as it is, but as you are.
PRINCIPLES
They are natural laws that cannot be broken. While practices are situationally specific, principles are fundamental truths that have universal application.
HABITS
“Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it every day and soon it cannot be broken.”
BALANCE OF P/PC
Effectiveness lies in the balance of P/PC.
P = Production
PC = Production Capability

1. BE PROACTIVE
It doesn’t mean to be pushy or aggressive. It does mean to recognize our responsibility to make things happen.
You’re the creator.
CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE
Proactive people focus their efforts in the Circle of Influence — things they can control.Reactive people focus in the Circle of Concern — things they have no control.
2. BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
It means to approach your roles in life with your values and directions clear.
PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT
Write down your vision and values. It becomes the criterion by which you measure everything else in your life.
PERSONAL LEADERSHIP
“A leader is the one who climbs the tallest tree, surveys the entire situation, and yells ‘Wrong Jungle!’”
3. PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST
It’s the fulfillment, the actualization, the natural emergence of Habits 1 and 2. It’s personal management.
FOCUS ON THE QUADRANT 2
To say YES to Q2 priorities, you have to learn to say NO to other activities.
STEWARDSHIP DELEGATION
Focus on RESULTS instead of methods.
4. THINK WIN-WIN
It’s not your way or my way, it’s a better way, a higher way.
Win-win is the only real alternative in interdependent realities. You have to be courageous and confident.
Win-win is the only real alternative in interdependent realities. You have to be courageous and confident.
ABUNDANCE MENTALITY
The paradigm that there is plenty out there for everybody.
5. SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD
Empathic listening gets inside another person’s frame of reference.
You look out through it, you see the world the way they see the world, you understand their paradigm.
AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL RESPONSES
We try to figure people out based on our own experiences and autobiography, and never fully understand.
6. SYNERGIZE
Simply defined, it means that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
THE MIDDLE WAY
Middle in essence means higher, like the apex of the triangle.
The essence of synergy is to value differences, to respect them, to build on strengths, to compensate for weaknesses.
7. SHARPEN THE SAW
PHYSICAL
Eat well, get sufficient rest and relaxation, and exercise on a regular basis.
MENTAL
Get into the habit of reading, writing, studying new things.
SPIRITUAL
Meditate, pray, immerse in great literature and music, communicate with nature.
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL
Interact with people, learn from them in a meaningful way.
